Bath, Boston and Derby DAB radio multiplexes awarded by Ofcom

Three small-scale DAB multiplexes have been granted by Ofcom covering Bath & Midsomer Norton, Boston, Spalding & Skegness, and Derby.

Only the Derby licence attracted more than one application, and these awards bring the total to 22.

Bath Digital Radio CIC intends to cover the majority of the City of Bath, Midsomer Norton and the towns in between, representing 80% of the population in the advertised area with three transmitters.

East Lincolnshire Broadcasting CIC plans to cover Boston and Skegness and look at providing coverage in Spalding in the future.

And Derby DAB‘s main investors are Gaydio, Oldham FM Ltd and Infocus Digital Media from Sunrise Radio in Bradford. They aim to be on-air within 10 months from now – April 2024.

Just two more remain to be handed out in Round 4.

Berwickshire & North Roxburgh, and East Fife, both with only one applicant each, are expected to be given out soon.
