SummitMedia flipped 1980s Hits “Awesome 93.1” WNOX Karns/Knoxville TN to Classic Rock on Friday, September 7.
Now branding as “Classic Rock 93.1“, the new brand matches the five other stations that SummitMedia standardized in December 2022.
The new format takes the station into direct format competition with Midwest Communications’ 103.5 WIMZ. WIMZ was second in the Knoxville market with an 11.9 share in the July 2023 Nielsen Audio ratings, while WNOX was eleventh with a 2.4 share.
