Cumulus Media Country “Kix 106” WGKX Memphis has appointed Argo as its new afternoon host.
Argo has previously worked locally in the market at Alternative “96X” WRXQ and Hot AC’s “94.1 The Buzz” WMBZ and “FM 100” WMC-FM. He has also been at SiriusXM’s “Elvis Radio” since 2005 and will continue to host there. He previously programmed the channel as well.
Cumulus Memphis VP/Market Manager Morgan Bohannon says: “Argo is just the most recent addition to our team. Once again Cumulus Media Memphis places a high priority on having the best live and local team we can find. Argo is the perfect addition to our team.”
WGKX Program Director Kay Manley adds, “Can’t tell you how thrilled I am that Argo is coming to Kix 106. We’ve known each other a long time. He’s a radio guy, a Memphis guy, and a good guy. He brings so much to the table. Our listeners are gonna love him.”
Argo commented, “It’s extremely meaningful for me to be joining the team of this legendary heritage radio station. I grew up listening to KIX and believe the Country format is as viable as ever, welcoming new fans and serving those that have roots as deep as KIX 106 itself!”
Argo fills the long-vacant local afternoon slot opened when former Program Director Chad Heritage departed last June. The timeslot had held remotely by WSM-FM Nashville’s Marty McFly since then.
