Capital presenter Ant Payne has said sorry about a comment he made regarding Turkey during his radio show on Monday.
Chatting to a fellow presenter during his London-based Drive show, Ant suggested now is the best time to book cheap flights to Turkey and get your teeth done.
Ant said: “I think now actually is the best time to start looking at some cheap flights away to Turkey over the next few years.
“Get your teeth done as well while you’re over there. You can come back looking 19 years, you’ll be on Love Island next year if you do it now!”
When questioned about it on Twitter, Ant originally said: “Except I said nothing of the sort” but later deleted the tweet.
Ant sent another tweet on Tuesday morning saying: “Hi guys, I want to address the comment I made last night on the show.
“It was insensitive and ill timed. I would never wish to offend anyone from my shows. My sincere and wholehearted apologies.”
Capital and Global have not commented on the situation, but the catch-up version of the show has been removed from Global Player, and Ant remains on the schedule for today for London (FM) and the UK (DAB).
Global, along with the rest of the commercial radio industry, is currently running an appeal for donations to help people affected by the disaster in Turkey.
