Along with the flip of Rock “Woof Rock 104.1” WMQZ Colchester/Macomb IL to Classic Hip Hop last Friday, Regional Media also made the same move on Rock “Z98” WZOE-FM Princeton/Peru IL to Classic Hip Hop “Icon 98.1“.
The company notes, “This initiative is more than a format change; it’s a celebration of the enduring legacy of Hip-Hop and R&B, which have seen a resurgence in popularity thanks to their timeless appeal and renewed presence on social media platforms. Songs that once defined the youthful experiences of Generation X and Millennials are now being rediscovered by a new generation on TikTok and Instagram Reels, further cementing their status in the music landscape.”
Since acquiring WZOE-FM in 2019, the station has now flipped from Classic Hits to CHR to Rock to Classic Hip Hop.
