Alt Buffalo Flips To Country 107.7/104.7 The Wolf

Audacy flipped Alternative “Alt 107.7/104.7” WLKK Wethersfield Township/W284AP Buffalo NY to Country “107.7 & 104.7 The Wolf” this afternoon.

The flip took place at 5pm today as the station will debut with 5,000 songs commercial-free. The new format places the station in direct format competition with Townsquare Media’s 106.5 WYRK, which currently ranks third in the market with an 8.2 share and the “CJ Country” network based at 1140 WCJW Warsaw that covers the area between Buffalo and Rochester where the 107.7 signal is strongest.

The Alternative format debuted in 2013 and had rebranded as “Alt 107.7/104.7” last September. The station had a 1.0 share in the May Nielsen Audio ratings. The station had a local midday show hosted by Brandi with the rest of the lineup coming out of 92.3 WNYL New York.

Audacy today announced the immediate launch of 107.7FM and 104.7FM The Wolf (WLKK-FM), Buffalo’s new country. Previously known as Alternative Buffalo, the station will also be heard on local FM translator 104.7FM and now boast a vast music library of today’s top country hits, featuring artists like Luke Combs, Carrie Underwood, Thomas Rhett, Dan + Shay, Miranda Lambert and Luke Bryan, among others.

“This is a great opportunity for us to add country to our content offering, and we’re delighted to now offer our listeners a new choice for country music,” said Tim Holly, Senior Vice and Market Manager, Audacy Buffalo. “Whether serving as the soundtrack to backyard barbecues or your commute to work, The Wolf will be home to fan favorites from some of today’s top country artists, and we look forward to celebrating this launch with our audience.”

107.7FM and 104.7FM The Wolf will launch with 5,000 songs commercial-free. On-air programming details will be announced in the coming weeks.
