As Way Media closes on its $350,000 purchase of 99.1 W256CD Fultondale/Birmingham AL from Red Mountain Ventures, iHeartMedia Alternative “Alt 99.1” has ceased operations on the translator.
iHeartMedia had been operating the translator since November 2017. The brand had also previously operated on 94.9 W235BS Birmingham from September 2015 until its move to 99.1 when W235BS was sold by Red Mountain Ventures to Courtney French Broadcasting.
W256CD is currently silent as it prepares to relaunch airing Way Media’s Christian AC “Way-FM” network from SummitMedia’s 95.7 WBHJ-HD2 Midfield along with 106.3 W292EI Warrior.
The Alternative brand will continue to be heard on WQEN-HD3 Trussville. The station had a 0.5 share in the September 2021 Nielsen Audio ratings.
