Alt 105.3 San Francisco Is Briefly Resurrected

After flipping on Friday afternoon to Variety Hits “105.3 Dave-FM“, the former format returned to KITS San Francisco this morning.

Technical issues took the “Dave-FM” format off for about 12 hours starting on Saturday evening. The issues began taking place around 8:40pm pacific time as KITS ran hours straight of nothing but commercials after what we’re told was caused by a corrupted music database for the new format. When music returned a little after midnight it was running an old log of “Alt 105.3” from the spring of 2020. That programming would last until just before 10am this morning as “Dave-FM” returned with Tom Petty’s “Don’t Do Me Like That”.

INSTANT INSIGHT: Had KITS not changed format on Friday, this would not have registered a blip on anyone’s radar other than the disgruntled listeners sitting through the non-stop music-free commercial sets. From what we’ve been told the music library for the new format became corrupted within the automation system leading to the crash. The lack of a backup library and log due to the newness of the format is just bad luck.

Our best wishes go out to the Audacy engineers and staffers who lost their Saturday night and Sunday morning working to resolve the problems and getting the proper programming back on the air due to something they had very little control over happening.
