Two sisters from Scotland are the latest winners of the Absolute Radio You competition.
Absolute Radio You gives the public the chance to have their very own radio station and share all their favourite songs.
Emma, 32 and Rachael, 35, siblings from Scotland, pitched Absolute Radio Sisters – with the strapline Where Sibling Rivalry Matters – for this year’s competition and were thrilled when Dave Berry himself called to tell them they had won.
Their winning pitch highlighted how, despite the popularity of decades stations, there was space for those listeners who straddled decades and wanted an even greater mix of nostalgic tunes.
As they shared in their entry: “There are 90s and 00s radio stations but none that cater for us millennial sisters who grew up across both eras!
“We have the most random music tastes which perfectly represents what us millennials love the most – where else can you go from Foo Fighters to Britney? Or from Cascada to Fall Out Boy? That feeling when a nostalgic song comes on one after the other is unmatched…”
Dave Berry, who launched the new station on his Breakfast Show this morning said: “Absolute Radio You is such a great way to start the year and with Absolute Radio Sisters we’ve found another cracking station that I know will resonate with our listeners. Make sure you check it out!”
Emma and Rachael will get to become music producers, presenters and interviewers following the station’s launch this morning.
It will be available to all until Thursday 22nd February after which it will be available as one of the exclusive Absolute Radio stations available to Premium subscribers.
