Kenneth Hill’s Appalachian Radio Group has closed on its $370,000 purchase of Country 1240 WBEJ/107.9 W300CC and has flipped the station to Southern Gospel “107.9 The Bridge“.
The station will continue to feature local news and sports, local church services, and Swap & Shop. The new “Bridge” branding is meant to be a nod to the Elizabethton Covered Bridge.
Hill states, “I am excited to broadcast with the digital program equipment that we recently purchased and installed in the new WBEJ studio. The transmitter site is also equipped with new technology. I encourage everyone in our region to listen to our signal and hear the difference. The history and the future come together here at WBEJ.”
Lora Gilreath and Barton Edens will remain with the station and join the station lineup along with newcomers to the station Hill, Ben Foy, Dick McClellan and Southern Gospel singer Loren Harris.
