Shaila Scott Departs WBLS Middays

MediaCo Adult R&B 107.5 WBLS New York has declined to renew the contract of longtime midday host Shaila Scott.

Scott has been a staple in the New York market since 1988 when she first joined WBLS. She moved to “98.7 Kiss-FM” WRKS in 1994, where she would remain until rejoining WBLS following the merging of the two station’s IP in April 2012. She began her career while in college at WBLK Buffalo.

Scott shared in a press statement, “Sadly, Mediaco decided not to renew my contract and advised me that ‘the station is going in a different direction’. As a native New Yorker, it has been a pleasure to be your radio relative, and I am humbled to have been rewarded with consecutive #1 rankings in the 12 and over, 18-49, and 25-54 age demographics. Thank You for trusting me to deliver content that touched and concerned our communities.”

The New York Daily News reports that Fred ‘Bugsy’ Buggs is currently filling-in on the midday slot until a replacement is named.
