Jeff Rickard Departs WEEI; Ken Laird Promoted To Operations Manager

After just five months as Brand Manager of Audacy Sports 93.7 WEEI-FM Lawrence/Boston and its network of simulcasts, Jeff Rickard has exited the station.

Rickard joined WEEI in August 2021 from Emmis’ “93.5/107.5 The Fan” WIBC-HD2 Indianapolis where he served as PD/Morning Host. He also hosts shows for SiriusXM. Rickard previously served as a a host for ESPN Radio, Sporting News Radio, KKFN Denver, and Comcast’s CN8 regional television network in the northeast and programmed KFNZ Salt Lake City from 1999 to 2004.

In an memo shared by the Boston Globe’s Chad Finn, Audacy Boston SVP/Market Manager Mike Thomas wrote, “I want to thank Jeff Rickard for his time here and all the work he put into this legacy brand since arriving last August. Jeff is returning to Indianapolis to be with his family and pursue other opportunities. We wish him nothing but the best and appreciate what he did as Brand Manager of WEEI. A new Brand Manager will be appointed in the future.”

Ken Laird, who was promoted to Assistant Brand Manager with the arrival of Rickard, has been promoted again to Operations Manager. With the promotion, Laird will step down from his role as executive producer and update anchor for the Greg Hill Morning Show. Laird began his career at WEEI as an intern in 2001. Following a long run at ESPN’s 1250 WEAE Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Tribune Review, Laird returned to WEEI in 2014 and held multiple producer and contributor roles before joining the morning show.

In the staff memo Thomas wrote, “Ken will be the new day-to-day Operations Manager. He will be coming off producing The Greg Hill Show, so he has time to work with me and the entire content team at WEEI. One of his first projects will be to work with Greg, Chris and I, to name his replacement on the show.”
