After 24 years at iHeartMedia Providence and a decade co-hosting afternoons at Rock 94.1 WHJY, Steve Scarpetti will depart the “Doug & Scarpetti Show” and his role as Promotion Director on Friday, January 24.
Scarpetti wrote, “Yes, it’s true. After a 25 yr run, I’ve decided to step away from my full time duties on-air at HJY as part of the Doug and Scarpetti Show and as Promotions director. An amazing opportunity came up and I’d be crazy to not take it. It’s been a hell of a run. I got to live my radio dream. From meeting my heroes, concerts, station trips and working with some of the best talent in radio. It’s a part of my life that I will always cherish.”
Scarpetti has been with the iHeartMedia Providence cluster since 2001. He served as Promotions Coordinator until rising to Promotions Director in 2007. He began hosting overnights on WHJY in 2012 and then joined Doug Palmieri in afternoons in 2015. He will continue fill-in at the station and will host they station’s “The Metal Zone” on Saturday overnights.
