PMB Broadcasting’s “Smooth R&B 92.1” W221DP Columbus/WLTC-HD2 Cusseta GA will flip to Sports “Sportsvisions 92.1” on Wednesday, January 15 in partnership with Daryll ‘DJ’ Jones and Dale Williams’s local Sports marketing agency of the same name.
Jones and Thrift Barringer had been hosting a 4-6pm afternoon show on the station. The duo will now move to mornings from 6-9am. The station will feature the regionally syndicated Paul Finebaum Show in afternoons from 3-7pm and Fox Sports Radio network programming including The Dan Patrick Show from 9am-12pm and The Herd with Colin Cowherd from 12-3pm. The station will also carry the University of Georgia, Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Braves, NASCAR and local high school football.
Jones, a local high school football star who later played for the Green Bay Packers and Denver Broncos in the 1980s, told the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer, “I’m incredibly excited personally and for Sportsvisions and everything that we’ve accomplished up to this point. You know, it’s been 20 years in the making, but I’m more excited about what this means for the local sports community. It’s really something that’s been needed.”
PMB Broadcasting owner Jimbo Martin said, “We are excited to partner with DJ on this new all-sports station. We have been working for some time to afford the platform he deserves. His talents are certainly unmistakable, and he brings so much knowledge to the world of sports.”
The new format creates a local competitor to Davis Broadcasting’s “ESPN 95.7” 1580 WIOL Columbus/95.7 WIOL-FM Waverly Hall, which carries the national ESPN Radio lineup around the clock.
