Rock 92.1 The Bone WBON WECQ Destin Fort Walton BeachJVC Media will relaunch Rock/Alternative “Rock 92.1” WECQ Destin/Fort Walton Beach FL as “92.1 The Bone” WBON on Friday, December 20 at 10:00am.

The new brand will launch with 9000 songs commercial-free and playlist with Rock music from the past six decades meant to replicate the broadness of sister Variety Hits “102.1 The Wave” WWAV with Market Manager John Griffo stating it will have “extremely unpredictable, yet oddly familiar music selection.”

The new brand will feature cluster Operations Manager Woofy Ramone, Program Director Matt Stone, and Theo on-air starting in April.

Stone said, “92.1 The Bone will be a unique and fresh approach to rock radio on the Panhandle.” Ramone added, “There are going to be plenty of ‘I can’t believe they’re playing that’ moments on 92.1 The Bone.”

The “Rock 92.1” brand debuted in September 2021 following a flip from CHR. The station has been teasing the Bone launch for the past couple weeks.

WECQ had a 1.0 share in the Spring 2024 Nielsen Audio ratings trailing Cumulus Media’s market leading “99 Rock” WKSM’s 7.5 share. WKSM has lost the majority of its airstaff in the company’s recent cuts leaving it with just afternoon host Kevin McKay.
