It’s the most wonderful time of the year. A time to blow up your station’s previous branding and start fresh after blowing out your playlist for 6-8 weeks of music that you cannot play except for maybe that one day in July when people like to pretend it is winter.
While there will be many others changes that seemingly come out of nowhere (even beyond those we track in our Domain Insight reports), the following is a list of stations where changes have been confirmed, expected, or at least worth monitoring between Christmas Day and the first week of January.
Expected Changes
Bowling Green & Glasgow KY – As Seven Mountains Media and Commonwealth Broadcasting complete their station swap, Commonwealth’s Classic Country “US 95.7” W239BT and Seven Mountains’ 102.3 WLLI and 98.5 W253BN are currently stunting as “Santa 102.3/95.7“.
Grand Forks ND – Valley Broadcasting’s KQYZ Emerado completed its move into Grand Forks as “Christmas 98.5” in November ahead of debuting a new format.
Greenville SC – SummitMedia flipped Hip Hop “Streetz 99.5” W258CB Greenville/WJMZ-HD3 Anderson SC to Christmas music as “Star 99.5“ in late November with an expected flip to AC to follow.
Ironton OH – Total Media Group’s pending acquisition 107.1 WIRO-FM is running as “Ho Ho Radio” until debuting a new identity after the holidays.
West Palm Beach FL – Glades Media’s former Spanish CHR “Fiesta 96.9/94.7” 1380 WWRF/96.9 W245AY and 94.7 W234DA is currently stunting with Christmas music ahead of teasing a new format to launch on December 25.
Other Potential Changes
Los Angeles – Mount Wilson FM Broadcasters Classical “K-Mozart” K252FO/KKGO-HD2 made a first time move to Christmas music in late October at least opening the possibility of a post-Christmas change.
San Francisco – Cumulus Media’s 560 KSFO is expected to launch a new format after moving its Conservative Talk brand to 810 KGO.
Elsewhere – Our Domain Insight reports are tracking potential changes coming in Boise, Kansas City, Tuscaloosa, and potentially two in Fort Collins CO.
