iHeartMedia Country “KJ97” KAJA San Antonio has announced the appointment of Alek Halverson as Program Director.
Halverson will move to San Antonio from up the road in Austin where he has served in the dual role of APD for CHR “96.7 Kiss-FM” KHFI and afternoon host at Country KASE 101 since January of this year. Halverson previously was MD/afternoon host at Audacy Country “100.7 The Wolf” KKWF Seattle and Radio FM Media Hot AC “Big 98.7” KLTA Moorhead MN/Fargo ND. He also served as Program Director and morning host on Radio FM Media CHR “Hits 96.9” K245BY/KLTA-HD2 and hosted nights at Country “Bob 95” 95.1 KBVB Fargo.
Halverson succeeds ‘Kyle Anthony’ Due at KAJA, who exited earlier this month, to relocate to New Jersey.
iHeart is already seeking applicants to fill Halverson’s APD position at KHFI.
iHeartMedia San Antonio announced today that Alek Halverson has been named Program Director for KJ97, effective immediately. iHeartMedia San Antonio has a strong cross-platform presence and includes a number of iconic brands and franchises — both broadcast and digital — encompassing more than eight stations comprised of music, talk, and news formats.
iHeartMedia has the leading consumer reach and influence across multiple platforms and delivers more live programming than any other media company. As Program Director, Halverson will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of KJ97’s on-air experience, including talent, content, programming, and online presence. He will report to Jason McCollim, Senior Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia San Antonio and Austin.

Halverson joins iHeartMedia San Antonio market from its sister market iHeartMedia Austin, where he most recently served as the Assistant Program Director for 96.7 KISS FM. He also served and will continue as the Afternoon Drive Talent for KASE 101. He began his career at KVOX in Fargo, North Dakota.
