Jax Country Moves With WSOS-FM Sale

Jax Country 94.1 The Promise WSOS-FM JacksonvilleChesapeake-Portsmouth Broadcasting is selling 94.1 WSOS-FM Fruit Cove/Jacksonville FL to Norsan Media for $1.6 million.

The deal includes an imminent LMA that will see WSOS-FM’s Classic Country “Jax Country” format move to 100.3 W262AG Jacksonville/100.7 WMUV-HD2 Brunswick GA. The brand originated on 105.3 WYKB in 2017 and then added WSOS-FM as a simulcast the following year. WYKB was then sold to Norsan in 2021. Former WOKV-FM producer Hannah Guile, who joined Chesapeake-Portsmouth Broadcasting as APD and sales associate earlier this year, will add afternoon host duties at “Jax Country 100.3“.

Norsan Media currently operates five brands in Jacksonville: Spanish CHR “Latina 92.1” WJXR, Spanish Rhythmic “Flow 105.3” WYKB Fernandina Beach, Regional Mexican “La Raza 92.9” 1160 WEWC Callahan, 1570 WVOJ Fernandina Beach, and 92.9 W225BI Stockade, Spanish AC “Romantica” 1320 WJNJ Jacksonville, 92.7 W224EF Orange Park, 103.7 W279AG Atlantic Beach, and WYKB-HD2, and Bilingual CHR “Top 97.3” 970 WNNR Jacksonville/97.3 W247CF Orange Park.
