Rubber City Radio Group has made on-air lineup changes at its stations in Akron and Cleveland.
Starting at Classic Rock 97.5 WONE-FM Akron, Kathy Vogel has taken over the afternoon drive slot that had been held by Tim Daugherty. Vogel moves over from mornings at sister Alternative “Jeny 107.3” WNWV Elyria/Cleveland. This is her third stint at WONE-FM as she began her career as part of the morning show from 1994 to 2001 and then hosted middays in 2019-2020 before moving to WNWV. Vogel has also worked in the region as as morning co-host at CHR “Q92” WDJQ Alliance/Canton from 2002-2006 and Hot AC “Mix 94.1” WHBC-FM Canton from 2008-2018. She was also a weekend/fill-on host at AC “Star 102.1” WDOK and Hot AC “Q104” WQAL Cleveland from 2006-2008.
Ben McKee, who had been hosting afternoons on both WNWV and Country 94.9 WQMX Akron will now focus exclusively on the latter in that daypart, while also adding nights at WONE-FM. McKee served as a weekend/fill-in host at WONE before moving to “Jeny” in 2020. He took over afternoons at WQMX in January 2021.
Middays have been vacated at WONE-FM as Program Director Craig Michaels exits. Michaels joined the station in May 2020 as evening host and quickly rose to PD/middays. The native Canadian previously served as Production Director for iHeartMedia Quad Cities, morning host and interim PD at Townsquare Media Classic Hits 104.9 KIIK Quad Cities, and a regional producer for Audacy.
With the changes, “Jeny 107.3” has moved to a jockless presentation. Midday host Cherise continues to be heard in evenings on WQMX.
