In Chicago’s northern suburbs, Newsweb’s WKIE LLC sells 92.7 WCPY Arlington Heights IL to the Mina Georgalas led Rhythm Enterprises LLC for $3 million. WCPY currently is split under two LMA’s with Polish “Polski FM” running in the daytime and Dance “Dance Factory Radio” at night. The members of the buyer include a couple of business owners along with “Polski FM” Program Director Janusz Bosowski, Station Manager Maciek Baran, and host Zygmunt Rygiel. Newsweb transferred Liberal Talk 820 WCPT Willow Springs/Chicago and Brokered Ethnic 1240 WSBC Chicago to Heartland Signal earlier this year for $1 and retains Brokered 750 WNDZ Portage IN.
Four years after Flag Family Media began operating Forum Communications’ News/Talk 970 WDAY/93.1 K226CL Fargo ND via LMA, the company is purchasing the station for $600,000. As part of the deal, any time the station utilizes the WDAY call letters for branding they must place an “AM” or “Radio” such as “WDAY AM News” or “WDAY Radio Sports” to emphasize its separation from Forum’s WDAY-TV. Flag Family Media also owns “1100/92.3 The Flag” WZFG/K222DF Dilworth MN/Fargo.
Carlton Veirs and Lyle Reid’s The Wireless Group sell Soft AC “The Cat” 1520 WNWS and News/Talk “95.3 Brownsville Radio” WTBG Brownsville TN to Victor Parkins and Scarlett Elliott’s The Mirror-Exchange Inc. for $100,000 and in a separate deal purchase the Brownsville States-Graphic newspaper. The buyer owns seven newspapers across West Tennessee. The Wireless Group has owned the stations since 1978 and will retain their digital marketing business Exact Marketing along with managing the business of television fisherman Bill Dance.
Along with its Nashville acquisition, Family Stations is selling 89.5 KPRA Ukiah CA to Ukiah Christian Radio for $68,000. The buyer has no existing properties.
Leann Didier and Loy Hardcastle’s D&H Media will acquire Full Service Country 950 WAKM Franklin TN for $275,000. The deal includes a $4000 per month LMA that took effect on September 1. Didier is Director of Sales for Kensington Digital Media led by her husband Tony Richards that owns Classic Hits “94.5 Hippie Radio” WHPY-FM Bellevue/Nashville, silent 1430 WYGI Madison, and Variety Hits 1010 WHIN/100.7 W264CR Gallatin each covering parts of the Nashville market along with stations in Alabama and Indiana. Hardcastle is a local real estate agent.
