Woodward Closes On Neuhoff Media Acquisition

Woodward Community MediaWoodward Community Media has closed on its $4.3 million purchase of Neuhoff Media’s seven stations in Bloomington and Springfield IL.

Woodward adds “Rock 96.7” WIHN, Variety Hits “97.9 Bob-FM” WBBE, and Hot AC “Now 100.7” WWHX in Bloomington and Variety Hits “96.7 Bob-FM” WCVS-FM, Hot AC “99.7 The Mix” WXAJ, Country 104.5 WFMB-FM, “Sports Radio 92.3” 1450 WFMB and the streaming “Channel 1450” local sports platform in Springfield to its existing six station cluster in Appleton/Green Bay WI.

The company says the acquired brands align with WCI’s focus on local community media properties in certain market sizes that serve niche and lifestyle audiences and expand its footprint in Illinois bringing experienced teams and talent to the employee-owned company.

WCI President/CEO Tom Woodward states, “ We are pleased to announce that today we successfully consummated the acquisition of Neuhoff Media’s radio stations and brands based in Springfield and Bloomington, IL. Over the past couple of months we have gotten to know each other better, shared ideas, aspirations, etc. which in turn has created positive momentum and energy on which we can enhance our capabilities to serve our customers and communities.”

The closing of the deal also marks the end of Neuhoff Media. At its peak Neuhoff owned 24 stations in Illinois and Indiana. The company announced its plans to exit radio earlier this year selling Danville and Decatur IL to Champaign Multimedia Group and its Lafayette IN stations to Saga Communications.
