Morgan Murphy Media’s QueenB Radio has made significant cuts at its Spokane stations.
The “Dave, Ken & Molly” morning show at Hot AC “92.9 ZZU” KZZU-FM Spokane. Originally known “The Breakfast Boys”, Dave Sposito and Ken Hopkins were both with the station in the 1980s and were first paired together in mornings in 1992 at then CHR “Zoo-FM” with Allen joining them in 1998. In 2002, the show moved to then sister Hot AC “Star 96.9” KEZE with Allen following them in middays. The trio would move back to KZZU in 2005 when KEZE flipped to Hip Hop and KZZU from CHR to Hot AC. Hopkins has held programming roles at KZZU as PD and/or Operations Manager since 1989.
Emily Maguire departs as midday voicetracker at KZZU. The San Diego based Maguire was part of “The DSC” in mornings at multiple stations in that market from 2001 to 2022.
At News/Talk “920 News Now” KXLY, Program Director/morning anchor Dave Spencer exits. Spencer was on his third tenure at the company starting at KZZU in 1991. He would hold multiple roles including traffic reporter, sports host, and Music Director at KEZE. He would then join Dave, Ken & Molly as producer from 2006-10. He would join iHeartMedia Conservative Talk 590 KQNT from 2012-20 with time as morning producer, co-host and Program Director and would then join KXLY in January 2022. KXLY will replace the morning show with a simulcast of KXLY-TV’s morning news.
Morgan Murphy Media Vice President of Radio Tery Garras told KXLY-TV, “We are restructuring operations to reflect current economic conditions while maintaining our commitment to our loyal listeners, partners, and community into the future.”
