Townsquare Media has appointed DC Daniel as Director of Content for its Tuscaloosa AL cluster and morning co-host at Country “95.3 The Bear” WFFN Coaling/Tuscaloosa.
That will pair him with his long-time morning partner Steve Shannon reuniting the duo on-air regularly for the first time since 2008. Steve & DC were first partnered at 94.1 WZBQ Tuscaloosa in the mid 80’s and would later work in New Orleans and Birmingham before joining WKBQ St. Louis in 1991. After being fired in 1993 for using a racial slur on-air (and lasting just eight days at KAZY Denver before the backlash caught up to them there), they returned to WKBQ in 1994. They would move around St. Louis, but would enter syndication airing on near 40 stations at their peak. Shannon would exit the morning show to return to Alabama to host on WERC Birmingham and later WAHR Huntsville before joining WFFN in 2016. Daniel joins the Townsquare Tuscaloosa cluster from Dothan where he was PD of The Radio People’s Country 95.5 WTVY and CHR 106.7 WKMX.
Daniel fills the position that had been held by Meg ‘Summers’ Dowdy. Dowdy has been promoted to Director of Regional Content overseeing the programming of 42 stations across seven markets in Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas. She joined Townsquare Tuscaloosa in 2009 as Promotions Director before being promoted to Operations Manager in 2018.
