Following Cumulus Media requiring all employees to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by the time they fully reopen their offices on October 11, another radio group is following suit.
Urban One and their Radio One subsidiary will mandate that all employees are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by October 1, 2021.
CEO Alfred Liggens sent the following memo to staffers:
As the cases and transmissibility of the new variants of COVID-19 continue to escalate, Urban One has decided to implement a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy whereby all employees will be required to show proof that they are fully vaccinated* against COVID-19 by October 1, 2021. This policy is being implemented as part of the company’s commitment to providing a safe and healthy work environment for all employees and their families and communities. We are providing you with a website to assist you in identifying a vaccination location: https://www.vaccines.gov.
* “Fully vaccinated” or “full vaccination” means that an individual has received all recommended doses of a COVID-19 vaccine that has received Emergency Use Authorization or full approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and that it has been at least two (2) weeks since the final recommended dose of the COVID-19 vaccine was administered.
