WQEN Fully Unveils Alabama In The Morning

Four months after debuting “Alabama in the Morning” hosted by Amber ‘Alabama’ Cole, iHeartMedia CHR “103.7 The Q” WQEN Trussville/Birmingham has fully launched the show with the addition of Gerald ‘DJ New Era’ Knight.

Cole joined WQEN in April following the move of the syndicated Ace & TJ Show to SummitMedia Hot AC “Mix 97.3” WPYA Gardendale after nineteen years on the station. She most recently was part of the Carla Marie & Anthony Show at iHeartMedia’s “106.1 Kiss-FM” KBKS Seattle and has also hosted middays and mornings at Country “Big 95.5” WEBG Chicago, MD/afternoon host at “Now 105.3” WNOH Norfolk and on-air at “Now 97.5” WJIM-FM Lansing.

DJ New Era has served as a mixer for “104.1 The Beat” W281AB Birmingham and “Hot 105.7” WZHT Montgomery since 2017 after an run from 2014 to 2017 at SummitMedia’s “95.7 Jamz” WBHJ.

103.7 the Q (WQEN), Birmingham’s Hit Music Station, announced today the debut of the new “Alabama in the Morning,” effective immediately. “Alabama in the Morning” will broadcast weekdays from 6-10 a.m. CST.

“Alabama in the Morning” is hosted by Alabama Cole and DJ New Era. The new show will feature interactive topics, listener games, plus a unique perspective on pop culture and local events.

As her name implies, Alabama Cole is a homegrown talent from Birmingham, Alabama. She has worked in morning radio for iHeartMedia Chicago’s BIG 95.5 and iHeartMedia Seattle’s HITS 106.1, among other stations throughout her career. She is also a successful podcaster, author, and public speaker.

DJ New Era is also a Birmingham native and has become an elite DJ with residencies in Atlanta, New York, and Las Vegas. He can also be heard on iHeartRadio’s 104.1 the Beat in Birmingham, Alabama, and Hot 105.7 in Montgomery, Alabama.
