92.9 Tulsa Drives Off Into A River

Griffin Media relaunched Classic Hits “92.9 The Drive” KBEZ Tulsa as “92.9 The River” KRQV at midnight on Labor Day.

The change comes with a move from a Rock leaning presentation to a more balanced presentation. Positioning as “Tulsa’s Greatest Hits”, the station is now focusing on music from the 70s through 90s. No changes were made to the station’s on-air lineup that continues to feature Carly Rush in mornings, Jeanne Nass in middays, and Director of Radio Operations and Programming ‘Wavy Davy’ Michaels in afternoons.

The Drive tied for thirteenth in the July 2023 Nielsen Audio ratings with a 2.9 share. The station continues to position itself between Stephens Media Group’s Soft Oldies 100.9 KTSO and Cox Media Group’s Classic Rock “103.3 The Eagle” KJSR.

The change also marks the end of the KBEZ call letters on the frequency after 46 years and multiple formats.

The first half-hour of “92.9 The River” featured:

  • Naked Eyes – Always Something There To Remind Me
  • Goo Goo Dolls – Slide
  • Bruce Springsteen – Dancing In The Dark
  • ZZ Top – La Grange
  • Huey Lewis & The News – Heart of Rock and Roll
  • Animotion – Obsession
  • Rick Springfield – Jessie’s Girl
