Tom Ferguson Departing, Heather Burleigh Arriving & PD Needed At WQFM

Times-Shamrock is seeking a new Program Director for Hot AC “Q92.1” WQFM Nanticoke/Wilkes-Barre PA as Tom Ferguson will depart on July 2 for an outside opportunity.

Ferguson spent his entire career at Times-Shamrock moving up from part-time in 2010 to APD and later PD of WQFM (formerly Alternative “Fuzz 92.1” WFUZ until last December) and Sports “NEPA’s ESPN Radio” 630 WEJL. Details on the position are in the press release below.

Times-Shamrock has also announced the arrival of Heather Burleigh as cluster Promotions Director and afternoon host at WQFM. Burleigh has spent the majority of her career in Portland Me where she was Traffic Director for Saga’s cluster and midday host at Hot AC “Coast 93.1” WMGX.

Q92 (WQFM 92.1 Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, owned by Times-Shamrock Communications) has added a Promotions Director/On-Air Talent, and is now in search of a Program Director to help continue to lead the station forward.

Times-Shamrock Communications is pleased to announce the hiring of Heather Burleigh to the role of Promotions Director/On-Air Talent to the cluster of radio stations in Northeast PA. Heather brings over 15 years of radio experience with her, including a long-time stint in Maine, where she worked behind-the-scenes in traffic and offered her unique, quirky personality to the airwaves of the Portland metro.

Burleigh will serve as the Promotions Director not just for WQFM, but also for WEZX (Rock 107) and for WEJL (NEPA’s ESPN Radio) in the Times-Shamrock radio cluster in Northeast PA. She’ll take over the afternoon shift starting in July on WQFM, and will be a part of the next phase of growth for Q92.

Times-Shamrock Communications has also announced that WQFM and WEJL Program Director Tom Ferguson will be stepping down, with his last day being July 2nd. Ferguson started at the cluster in Scranton as a part-time employee in 2010, and worked his way up to full-time in 2013 as the Brand Manager and APD of what was then WFUZ (Fuzz 92.1). Ferguson has been a part of the radio landscape in Northeast PA ever since. Ferguson is leaving to pursue other opportunities, but will remain as a part- time talent and sports broadcaster with WEJL.

The search has begun for the next Program Director for WQFM. The qualified candidate will have excellent talent development skills, along with the vision to implement new, fresh, creative ideas. Candidates should have experience in programming, and be aware of the trends in the format and industry.

The successful candidate must have passion to be on-air and on the streets to meet listeners, advertisers, and people of influence in our community, as a means to help increase awareness of the station, and to build audience numbers.
