After nineteen years as running as a standalone operations with a simulcast of Sports 93.7 WEEI-FM Boston, Audacy will close the local sales and marketing office for 103.7 WVEI-FM Westerly/Providence RI.
The station had retained its Westerly office since then-Entercom acquired the station in 2004. GoLocalProv.com reports that employees were notified this week about the closure. It is unknown how many people were effected or if they will now just work remotely.
Despite having a full Class B signal covering the entire state of Rhode Island, WVEI-FM has mostly trailed Beasley Media’s “98.5 The Sports Hub” WBZ-FM Boston in the Providence market with a 2.5 share in the February 2023 Nielsen Audio ratings to WBZ-FM’s 3.8 share.
