HHawaii Media has flipped two of its brands on the Hawaiian island of Kauaʻi.
“Oldies 101.3” K267BW Kapaa/99.9 KTOH-HD2 Kalaheo has moved from a 60s/70s based playlist to Classic Hits focusing on the 1970s through early 90s under a new “Sunny 101.3” branding.
Traditional Hawaiian/Tourist Info “Hawaiian 107.9” K300AT/KTOH-HD3 Kalaheo made the more drastic switch flipping to Active Rock “107.9 The X” with core artists including Foo Fighters, Three Days Grace, Metallica, AC/DC, Shinedown, and Stone Temple Pilots.
General Manager Lee Weiman told the Garden Island that both changes were made to serve broader demographics. He said the Rock station “fills a void for younger men on the island,” and “we just found that the oldies format was aging out.”
