Regional newspaper operator Shaw Media is expanding into radio with the purchase of Studstill Media’s seven stations in the LaSalle/Peru IL market for $1.8 million plus an additional $75,000 if certain revenue percentages are hit before March 31. Shaw Local Radio Co. will acquire CHR “Q Hit Music” 97.7 WSTQ Streator/103.3 WIVQ Spring Valley, Classic Country 100.1 WGLC Mendota, Rock “100.9 FM Rocks” WBZG Peru, Country “Walls 102.1” WALS Oglesby, “Classic Hits 106.1” WYYS Streator and Full Service Standards 1250 WSPL/98.5 W253BX Streator. The family-owned Shaw Media owns 80 newspapers and web platforms across Illinois and Iowa.
John Fredericks’ Disruptor Radio LLC purchases 1690 WMLB Avondale Estates/Atlanta GA from Delmarva Educational Association for $305,000 minus any payments besides tower rent made since they began operating the station via Time Brokerage Agreement in March 2021. The station has operated as Conservative Talk “Freedom 1690” since the TBA began.
