After two months of stunting as “Santa 92.7“, Forever Media has flipped the former CHR “Nu 92.7” WNUU Starview/York PA to AC “Happy 92.7” under new WPPY call letters.
Utilizing Westwood One’s 24/7 programming, the brand is also airing on 1320 WGET/93.7 W229DK Gettysburg and 1280 WHVR/95.3 W237EN Hanover PA with each parent signal identifying separately. Those two stations previously utilized the “Happy” brand as Hot AC until flipping to “Nu” in January 2022.
The new format places WPPY in direct competition with Cumulus Media’s “Warm 103.3” WARM-FM York. WARM-FM tied for fourth in the York market with a 5.6 share in the Spring 2022 Nielsen Audio ratings
“Nu 92.7” debuted in October 2021 following Forever’s acquisition of the former “ESPN Radio 92.7” WONN-FM from Hall Communications, but failed to generate any momentum with a 0.4 share in the Spring 2022 Nielsen Audio ratings trailing iHeartMedia CHR “FM 97” WLAN-FM’s 2.9 and Cumulus Media’s “Hot 106.7” WWKL’s 1.7 in the York market.
