KXXM PD/Afternoon Host Russell Rush Dies At The Age Of 44 From Rare Cancer

iHeartMedia CHR “96.1 Now” KXXM San Antonio Program Director and afternoon host Russell Rush has passed away today following a long bout with cancer. Rush was diagnosed with T-Cell Lymphoma in 2019, which accelerated this summer. When diagnosed he told listeners, “There’s no cure, just treatment and hope for remission, which is what we’re doing right now.”

The 44 year-old Rush joined KXXM in 2005 rising to APD/afternoon host in 2006 and Program Director in 2017. He began his career in his native Iowa as a teenager and then spent five years at 101.5 WBNQ Bloomington IL. He also hosted haunted house tours on YouTube.

Rush is survived by his wife Saralyn Ferrell.
