Dick Broadcasting has relaunched Sports “960 The Bull” WRNS Kinston NC as Sports Betting “Bet on the Bull“.
The move sees WRNS drop CBS Sports Radio for VSiN network programming as it becomes the first Sports Betting station in North Carolina. WRNS will continue to feature the local Bryan Hanks show in mornings from 7-9am and replayed from 3-5pm as well as a high school football game of the week and Carolina Panthers football coverage.
Dick Broadcasting is leveraging premier content from VSiN, The Sports Betting Network, to introduce sports betting talk radio to North Carolina for the first time. Rebranding from “960 The Bull” to “Bet on the Bull 960 AM,” the station has transitioned to sports betting talk in this top 100 radio market. The new station will provide listeners in the Greenville, New Bern and Jacksonville areas with access to premier sports betting content, as well as local morning show, The Bryan Hanks Show, The Davis Wholesale Tire Game of the Week, and live Carolina Panthers play-by-play.
“As we started to look at new content options for the station, it was impossible to ignore the impact sports betting is having as it’s legalized across the U.S.,” said Tony Denton, Eastern North Carolina Market Manager Dick Broadcasting. “We evaluated all of the offerings, and VSiN stood out as the best option for sports betting content. VSiN goes way beyond the traditional sports-talk format with unique content that you cannot find anywhere else. “Bet on the Bull 960 AM,” BetontheBull.com, and the 960 The Bull app will be a destination anyone with a real passion for sports.”
WRNS-AM 960, which previously aired sports talk from another leading sports radio network, flips to a sports betting format today. VSiN content will deliver real-time news and analysis from some of the industry’s most knowledgeable sports betting experts and legendary bookmakers to inform and entertain sports bettors and fans alike. In addition, “Brent Musburger’s Action Updates” will air on WRNS-AM, market-leading country station WRNS-FM; Top 40 WERO-FM; and adult hits WQSL-FM.
Airing weekdays Monday through Friday 7 a.m. – 9 a.m. and replayed from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m., The Bryan Hanks Show presented by Lenoir Community College features local content from the listening area not just limited to sports. The home for all things Carolina Panthers “Bet the Bull” also brings listeners what they need to follow their local team, including coaches shows, pre-game and post-game coverage, and live play-by-play all season long. The Davis Wholesale Tire Game of the Week also broadcasts August through February.
“VSiN is proud to be the engine behind North Carolina’s first-ever sports betting radio format,” said Len Mead, General Manager at VSiN. “We’re excited to continue to expand our distribution footprint and inform and entertain sports fans in North Carolina and across the U.S.”
Including both long form and Action Updates, VSiN programming is now available on more than 300 stations in 46 states around the country, reaching nearly 90% of the U.S. radio market. Its recent expansion has cemented VSiN’s position as the largest sports betting radio network in the country, as well as one of the most widely distributed sports media networks of any kind.
