FCC Report 8/25: $3000 Fine Proposed Against Georgia FM For Late License Renewal Filing

FCC Actions

The FCC has proposed a $3000 penalty against Southern Broadcasting & Investment Co.’s Classic Hits 98.7 WBTY Homerville GA for failing to file a timely license renewal application. WBTY’s renewal application was due to be filed by December 1, 2019 ahead of its April 1, 2020 expiration, but was not filed until March 30, 2020. No explanation was given to the FCC about the late filing.

License Cancellations

Vermont Public Radio turned in 88.7 WVTX Colchester VT in order to complete the relocation of co-channel 88.7 WRVT Rutland.

Cedar Cove Broadcasting has requested cancellation of the Construction Permit for 88.1 KJAR Laramie WY stating that it has been unable to negotiate acceptable rental terms from the tower site owner for use of the proposed tower site.
