101.5 The Vibe Appoints EJ Grieg As Director of Branding and Programming

Cox Media Group Adult R&B “101.5 The Vibe” WTBV St. Petersburg/Tampa has appointed EJ Grieg as the station’s first Director of Branding and Programming.

Grieg most recently spent nine years as Program Director of Cumulus Media’s Hip Hop 92.9 WBLX and Adult R&B 104.1 WDLT Mobile AL until departing in May. He has also programmed WIZF Cincinnati, served as APD as WQHH Lansing MI, and worked on-air at WOWI Norfolk.

WTBV has also added DJ Ekin as the local voice on the syndicated Rickey Smiley Morning Show. Ekin has previously served as Digital Program Director and Mixshow Director for CHR “Hot 101.5” WPOI from 2011-17, mixer from 2019-21, and also served as MD at “95.7 The Beat” WBTP from 2007-10. He also was previously in-game DJ and host for the NFL’s Tampa Bay Bucaneers.

CMG Radio today named EJ Greig as WTBV 101.5 FM The Vibe’s first Director of Branding and Programming Radio Personality.

Greig came to CMG as an experienced and veteran radio leader with a reputation for taking stations to the top of their markets.

“EJ is a great leader, a great on-air talent, and a great man,” said Jason Meder, Market Manager for CMG Tampa. “From the start, we knew EJ was the perfect fit for The Vibe. We’re lucky to have him and are thankful he brought his talents to CMG.”

WTBV 101.5 FM The Vibe is Tampa’s only Urban adult contemporary radio station.

“101.5 The Vibe is already a competitive brand to be reckoned with. I can’t wait to contribute to this station’s success and positively impact our listeners and our Tampa community,” Greig said. “I don’t take lightly being the first of something this big. This opportunity has ridiculously blessed me. I aim to use my talent and experience to bless the team and the Tampa Bay audience with the best R&B brand possible.”
WTBV has also added market veteran DJ Ekin to be the liaison to the Rickey Smiley Morning Show and between the station and the community.

Ekin, who has worked in radio stations and at Island/Def Jam, brings with him deep relationships he cultivated throughout his career. That includes his time as the in-game DJ and host for the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
